Swing Out Sister

Lucy Dickman spent years running a pop-up boutique — appearing at golf clubs and PGA professional events across the UK, selling other brands’ clothing from a van or a temporary rail, being referred to (not entirely inaccurately) as the fifth emergency service for women’s golf clothing. She understood the market from the inside: what women were not finding, what price points were not being served, what gap existed between the technical performance brands and the high street.

Swing Out Sister isn't the most editorial brand in The Edit — it's the most useful one, for the reader who plays twice a week and needs clothing that does the work reliably without costing what a round of golf does.

In 2016 she launched her own label. Swing Out Sister Golf is designed in Sussex, women-first by founding principle, and built around the recognition that technical golf fabrics and high street appeal are not mutually exclusive — they simply require someone willing to pursue both simultaneously rather than defaulting to one. The brand is affordable in a market where affordable has often meant either unfashionable or poorly made. It is neither.

Best forThe reader who plays twice a week at her local UK club and needs reliable, considered clothing without single-polo-costs-a-round pricing

The brand has ambassadors on the Ladies European Tour, including English legend Trish Johnson, which gives it a credibility that its price point might not immediately suggest. The range includes packable gilets, technical polos, and layering pieces that are practical in the specific way that British and Irish golf demands — which is to say, practical for weather that changes three times in a single round.

This is not the most editorial brand in The Edit. It is the most useful one for a reader who plays twice a week at her local club in England and needs clothing that does the work reliably, looks considered, and does not require her to spend what a round of golf costs on a single polo. That reader exists. She matters. This brand was made for her.
