Lisbon is one of Europe’s most compelling cities and the golf courses within forty minutes of the city centre are among the best in Europe. That combination — world-class urban culture and world-class golf within the same morning — is not available in Madrid or Paris or Rome. It is available in Lisbon.

Four courses across two distinct geographies. Cascais, twenty-five minutes west of Lisbon, for Oitavos Dunes and the coastal register. Aroeira in the pine forest south of the city as the round that fits between city days. When to go March through June and September through November. Lisbon’s Atlantic position gives it a cooler, cleaner air than the Mediterranean destinations further south — the golf is playable year-round but the spring and autumn windows are the finest.
