Dressed for
Tuscany.

Four courses · Maremma · April – June · September – October

Tuscany does not ask you to dress for a golf course. It asks you to dress for a landscape that has been considered beautiful for five hundred years and has strong opinions about what belongs in it.

The golf in Tuscany is not the reason most people come to Tuscany. It is the reason they come back. The courses here sit inside a landscape of cypress avenues, medieval hill towns, and vineyards that produce wine serious enough to be worth the detour on its own terms. Playing a round at Castelfalfi means playing through a restored medieval borgo with a working winery on the estate. Playing at Terme di Saturnia means the thermal springs are waiting for you when the round is finished. The golf is good. The context around it is extraordinary.

What you wear in Tuscany needs to work in that context. The courses here are not resort golf in the Costa del Sol sense — they are golf embedded in one of the most culturally dense landscapes in Europe. The clothing should acknowledge where it is. This means considered palettes drawn from the landscape itself, and brands that understand restraint as a form of confidence rather than an absence of it.

Diana is playing these courses in 2026. The vignettes will be updated in her own voice when she does. For now, this is the editorial read.

When to go April through June and September through October. Tuscany in high summer is beautiful and crowded — the courses are playable but the broader experience suffers. Spring brings the flowering landscape. Autumn brings the harvest, the wine, and the particular light that has been making painters come to Tuscany for six centuries. Either window is correct. July and August are for people who did not plan ahead.

Castelfalfi Golf Club

★ 4.6 · TUI Blue Resort · Diana visiting 2026

Castelfalfi is a medieval borgo — a fortified hilltop village — that was abandoned in the 1960s and restored over two decades into a resort of particular coherence. The golf course plays across the estate’s 1,100 hectares of Tuscan countryside, past the village tower, around the working winery, through olive groves that have been producing oil since the eleventh century. The round takes you through the history of the landscape as much as across it. There are holes where the view to the Val d’Elsa valley stops you in a way that has nothing to do with course management and everything to do with where you are standing.

“A medieval village restored into a golf resort with its own winery. That is either the most Tuscan thing possible or a contradiction — and I want to find out which. The answer will determine how I write about it.”

What to wear at Castelfalfi

A medieval borgo with a working winery sets a specific register — not resort glamour, not technical performance, but the kind of dressing that belongs to a place with eleven centuries of continuous history. Quiet luxury that earns its place in the landscape rather than arriving in spite of it.

The luxury statementMARK & LONALuxury streetwear golf from Tokyo. Avant-garde precision meets technical performance. The brand that reads as fashion in the context of a medieval estate — considered, cultural, completely in register with a place that takes its own seriousness seriously.
The Italian answerChervoItalian tailoring applied to golf. Milan-born, precise, expensive without announcing it. There is something correct about wearing Chervo on a Tuscan course — the country speaking through the clothing without performing the fact of it.
The French elevationLanvin BlancFrench couture intelligence applied to Korean sport. The Lanvin Blanc register — elevated without effort — sits naturally against a landscape that invented the idea of cultivated beauty.
The colour decisionG/ForeOne colour moment at the glove. Chianti red or deep burgundy against a warm cream outfit at Castelfalfi is not a fashion choice — it is the vineyard speaking through the clothing. G/Fore understands this.

Palette — warm ivory · Chianti · cypress green · the colours of a Tuscan harvest landscape in October light

“Castelfalfi earns MARK & LONA and Chervo in the same outfit. Not many courses do. The medieval borgo and the working winery give the property a cultural weight that matches the ambition of both brands. I am certain of this before I have played a single hole there.”

Terme di Saturnia Golf & Spa Resort

★ 4.5 · 5-star spa resort · Diana visiting 2026

Terme di Saturnia has been producing thermal water at 37.5 degrees Celsius for longer than recorded history — the Romans used it, the Etruscans before them, and the Maremma countryside around it has the particular quality of a landscape that has been left mostly to itself. The golf course plays across this territory with the volcanic hills of the Maremma as its backdrop and the thermal pools as its conclusion. The round is the reason for the afternoon. The afternoon is the reason for the round. Both are correct simultaneously.

“A golf course where the thermal springs are the logical end of the round rather than an optional extra. That is not a resort amenity — that is a course designed around a philosophy of how a day should be spent. I want to experience the logic of it.”

What to wear at Terme di Saturnia

A wellness resort in the Maremma countryside asks for a specific register. The clothing should feel equally right on the course and moving toward the thermal pools — feminine, considered, organic in palette. The outfit that makes the transition from fairway to spa feel continuous rather than interrupted.

The feminine eleganceAND PER SERefined Seoul luxury, women-first. Soft structure and architectural detail. AND PER SE’s pieces move from golf course to spa terrace without requiring a change of register. The brand for a day that has more than one act.
The tailored easeFair LiarWomen-first Korean luxury. Feminine tailored ease in warm natural tones. A Fair Liar piece in linen-adjacent fabric at a thermal spa resort in the Maremma is correctly dressed for where the day is going.
The technical baseDescente GolfJapanese technical minimalism. Performance without visual compromise. The base layer that handles eighteen holes in Maremma spring heat without the clothing ever announcing that it is working.
The heritage noteMizunoCraft credibility since 1906. At a resort where the thermal water has been flowing since before the Roman Empire, Mizuno’s heritage performance register reads as appropriately grounded. Not technical branding — earned presence.

Palette — warm sand · natural linen · soft terracotta · the colours of Maremma volcanic earth and thermal steam in morning light

“Terme di Saturnia is the course where the outfit needs to work twice — on the fairway and beside the thermal pool. AND PER SE and Fair Liar together answer that correctly. The day has two acts. The clothing should acknowledge both.”

Golf Club Punta Ala

★ 4.4 · Coastal Maremma · Diana visiting 2026

Punta Ala sits on the Tyrrhenian coast of the Maremma, in a pine forest that runs directly to the sea. The golf club here is one of the oldest on the Tuscan coast and has the quality of a place that has been used by people who know exactly why they come without needing to explain it to anyone else. The course plays through the pines with the sea visible through the trees and the particular light of the Tuscan coast — flatter than the Ligurian, warmer than the Adriatic — giving the round a register entirely specific to this stretch of coastline.

“A pine forest to the sea. That is one of the most specific landscapes golf can offer and Punta Ala has been inside it for decades without making a great deal of noise about the fact. That restraint is itself an Inesea quality.”

What to wear at Punta Ala

Coastal Maremma in a pine forest asks for the kind of dressing that sits between the inland courses and the open Mediterranean coast. The pine filters the light and softens the sea glare. The palette is coastal but quieter — not the sharp white of the open Mediterranean but the warmer cream of sand through trees.

The clean silhouetteANEW GolfClean modern precision from Seoul. ANEW Golf’s structured pieces in warm white or sea-glass sage read correctly through the pine light at Punta Ala — present without competing with the coastal landscape behind them.
The collector’s notePearly GatesJapanese collector credibility. A Pearly Gates cap or visor at one of the oldest golf clubs on the Tuscan coast is an insider signal — the recognition that comes from knowing what you’re wearing and why you chose it here specifically.
The colour momentG/ForeThe glove as the single colour decision. Sea-glass green or soft coral against a warm white outfit at a coastal pine course is the palette the landscape is already proposing. G/Fore simply listens to it.
The feminine easeFair LiarWomen-first Korean luxury. A Fair Liar silhouette in warm cream at Punta Ala has the effortless quality that the oldest golf clubs on any coast seem to ask for — present, considered, not trying too hard.

Palette — warm white · sea-glass sage · soft coral · the colours of a pine forest in morning light with the Tyrrhenian sea behind it

“Punta Ala is the course where the outfit should feel like it was chosen by someone who has been coming here for years and knows exactly what the pines and the light ask for. ANEW Golf in warm white with a G/Fore colour at the glove is that outfit.”

Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort

★ 4.5 · Porto Ercole register · Diana visiting 2026

Monte Argentario is a promontory — technically an island, connected to the mainland by two causeways — that has been a retreat for old Italian money since the post-war period when Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano established the quiet, unhurried register they have maintained ever since. The Argentario Golf Resort sits within this landscape with the lagoon on one side and the open sea on the other, and the golf course plays through the Mediterranean scrub of a WWF nature reserve. It is among the least self-promoting courses in Tuscany and therefore among the most interesting.

“A golf course inside a WWF nature reserve on a promontory where old Italian money has been choosing not to be seen for seventy years. That particular quality of deliberate invisibility is exactly what Inesea is drawn to. I will play it.”

What to wear at Argentario

A course in a nature reserve on a promontory associated with deliberate understatement asks for the most restrained outfit on this list. Not less considered — differently considered. The landscape here is protected and the culture of the place is anti-display. The clothing should be beautiful and invisible in equal measure.

The cultural layeringBEAMS GolfThe Beams sensibility: sophisticated, layered, aware of where it is. A BEAMS knit at Argentario has the quality of a considered choice worn by someone who does not need to explain it — which is precisely the register of the place.
The Scandinavian quietDaily SportsWomen-first Swedish golf. For the round where understatement is the only correct decision. At Argentario, the landscape is the display. The clothing should be present without competing with a nature reserve and a lagoon simultaneously.
The American quiet luxuryPeter MillarAmerican quiet luxury. Country club authority, exceptional fabrication. Peter Millar at Argentario reads as exactly the register of old money at leisure — not performing wealth, simply dressed in quality without the need to explain it.
The heritage performanceMizunoCraft credibility since 1906. At a course in a protected landscape that decided not to be famous, Mizuno’s long-standing performance heritage reads as appropriately grounded. The brand that has been doing this seriously for longer than most.

Palette — Mediterranean scrub green · lagoon grey · natural linen · the colours of a protected landscape in October that does not need your approval

“Argentario is the course that earns the most restrained outfit on this list. BEAMS Golf and Daily Sports together understand the register of deliberate understatement. The promontory and the nature reserve do not need the clothing to make a statement. Neither should the clothing.”

The Edit

Four courses. Four distinct moments within the same landscape. Tuscany does not produce golf of one kind — it produces golf that takes the character of the specific place it occupies, and each place here is specific enough to deserve its own answer. The Edit carries the brands. Diana’s personal assessments will follow when she plays each course in 2026.
